Selenicereus wittii (KSch)Rowl - Excelsa 12:36 (1986)
- From the ground climbing up trees with aerial roots. Stems thin and flat,
30-40 cm long, often more than 1 m, 3-4 cm broad, with raised midvein. Areoles
8 mm apart, with hairs, bristles and numerous spines up to 1.2 cm long,
yellow brown. Flower 25 cm long, 4-5 cm diameter. Ovary and receptacle with
hairs, ovary with bristles. ower part of the receptacle thicker than
upper part. Outer petals longer than the inner ones, reddish. Inner petals
narrow lanceolate, white. Fruit oblong ovoid, 3.5 cm long, 2.5 cm diameter,
with bristly spines and small tufts of hair. Seed 4x3 mm, brown.

Loreto; Venezuela: Amazonas, 100-250 m. Flowering period May.
