Type: Rhipsalis cassutha Gaertn (= Rhipsalis baccifera (Mill)Stearn)

- Epiphytic, sometimes terrestric. Usually pendant, sometimes with aerial roots. Branches cylindrical to angled or flattened. Areoles with scales, naked or with hair and/or bristles. Day flowering with usually small flowers. These are mostly more or less white, seldom deeply coloured. Receptacle incspicuous. Fruit globose to somewhat more oblong, not veined.

- South and Central America, Caribbean, Florida, South Mexico, also Africa, Mascarenes and Ceylon.
