- At first erect, later hanging. Stems flat, crenated. Without aerial roots. Areoles usually with spines. Flowers white, pink, lilac, red or orange. Fruit more or less globose, white to pinkish, greenish or red-brown, without spines or hairs.
- South Ecuador (La Loja) to central and South Peru (Amazonas, JunÃn, Puno) and Bolivia (La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz).
