- Stems up to 2 cm diameter, 7-8-ribbed. Spines 7-13, acute. Flowers 23-30 cm long, pericarpel with bristles and trichomes, but without spines. Outer petals yellow-brown, inner petals white. Fruit 5-6 cm long, pale red, with bristles and trichomes. Pulpa white. Seeds 3.1-3.5 mm long, dark brown.

- Mexico: La Trinitaria (Chiapas); Guatemala: Nentón (Huehuetenango); El Salvador: Municipio Metapán, Parque Nacional Montecristo, 1590 m (Santa Ana) (T). Flowering period march to april.
