- Small shrub, upright or hanging, to 30 cm long. Stem woody, with grey bark. Branching in two, or in whorls. Stems cylindric, upper part somewhat thickened, tip with fine grey felt, dull dark green. Stems with some small lateral areoles, scales and 1-2 tiny spines. Flower 2 cm long, 2,5 cm diameter. Ovary conical, 5 mm long, 6 mm diameter, light green, round, with 2-3 green scales. Outer petals magenta. Inner petals magenta with orange tip. Filaments light pink, anthers yellow. Style pink, stigmas yellow. Fruit olive green, with flower remnants, 8 mm long, 5 mm diameter, opening apically. Seed flat oval, 0,75 mm, chestnut-brown.
