- Sparsely branching, up to 60 cm long. Main stem 10 40 cm long. Stems 1 2,5 cm broad, dark of bluish green, often redly tinged, triangled, edges sharp. Areoles with tufts grey-white tot brownish wool and bristles. Flower white to pink or yellow-white, 1 cm long. Ovary cilindric to round, white-green. Fruit lilac, round. Seed elliptic, 1,5x0,75 mm, dark brown.

- Brazil: Pernambuco, Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Mato Grosso, Goías, Tocantins, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul; Paraguay; Argentina: Corrientes, Misiones, Chaco, Santa Fé; epiphytic and epilithic, on the coast and in deciduous forest, up to 1200 m. Flowering time October to January.
