- Bushy, profusely branched, with aerial roots. Stems 4-6 mm diameter, round, somewhat ribbed, greyish to yellowish green, 14-20 cm long. Areoles closely together, with small triangled scales, short white felt and 5-8 spines, 3-5 mm long. Flower lateral, 2.2 cm long, 3.8 cm diameter, light straw-yellow to white, scented. Ovary ellipsoid. Fruit red to purple.

- Uruguay (alg), Paraguay, Argentina: Corrientes, Entre Rios, Misiones, Buenos Aires, Formosa, Chaco, Jujuy, Salta, Tucumán, Catamarca, Santiago del Estero; Bolivia: Beni, La Paz, Santa Cruz; Brazil: São Paulo, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul, epifytic in deciduous forest, up to 1900 m. Flowering period August to December.
