- Bushy, hanging, up to 2 m and longer. Stems first cylindric, following part leaflike, this often alternating. Cylindric part up to 2 mm diameter, leaflike part up to 40 cm long, 3-5 cm broad, coarsly dentated. Areoles naked. Flower 2 cm long, 1 cm diameter, bell-shaped, yellow-white with red centre. Filaments white, with reddish base. Pistil whitish. Ovary short cylindric, four- to five-angled, light green. Fruit round, up to 1 cm diameter, red to black. Seed small.

- Brazil: Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Santa Catarina, Rio Grande do Sul; Argentina: Misiones, epifytic, up to 1900 m. Flowering time November tot January.
