- Basally branching, 1 m and longer. Basal part of the primary stems up to 60 cm long, cylindric, upper part flattened, 30-40(-50) cm long, 2-3.5 cm wide. Secundary stems up to 40 cm long, with shorter basal part. Areoles very small, with little felt, and a small red scale. Flowers up to 2.5 cm long. Pericarpel green to brown or carmine, 1 cm long, 0.5 cm diameter, with 4-6 small, blunt, fleshy scales. Receptacle 8 mm long. Outer petals green to reddish brown. Inner petals white.
