- Climbing, green, stems round or vaguely six to seven angled, 0.8-1.2 cm diameter. Areoles 2-3 mm apart. Spines ±10, later 20, stiff, 0.3-1.2 cm long, at first cream, with yellow tip, later completely yellow, base thickened. Hairs 30-40, frizzled, 0.5-2 cm long. Flower campanulate-funnelform, up to 6 cm long, 3.5 cm diameter. Ovary reddish. Receptacle tightly and finely knobbed, with rather long, dense hairs. Outer petals purple. Inner petals red. Fruit oblong, 3 cm long, 2.5 cm diameter, purple-red. Pulpa brown red. Seed 1.75mm, black.
