- Main stem slender, round or three- to four-angled. Terminal stems flat, thin, light green with purple edges, crenated, rounded between crenations, top obtuse. Flower to 30 cm long, 4-9 cm diameter. Receptacle thin, green, with pinkish scales, much longer than the petals. Outer petals greenish or white. Filaments short, white. Fruit oblong, 7-9 cm long, with 8 weak ribs, light red, pulpa white. Seed large, black.

Epiphyllum phyllanthus (Chapada Diamantina, Brazil) - Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina, Brazil, Guyana to Panama, up to 1700 m.
