- Stems to 3 m long or more, 1-3 cm broad, tringular, hanging more or less straight downward, dull light green. Areoles 3-4 cm apart. Spines 3-6(-30), 1,5 cm long, hairlike, light and flexible. Flower bell-shaped, petals bend outwards, 11-15 cm long and broad, orange, red towards the throat, throat green. Filaments in two rows, orange to red-orange, upper and lower parts white, anthers light yellow. Upper part of the style orange, lower part white, stigmas light purple. Ovary and lower part of receptacle with stiff, glassy hairs. Fruit ellipsoid, somewhat angled, 7 cm long, 3 cm broad, dark green. Areoles after flowering more hairy and with spines. Seed black, 2x1,3x0,8 mm.
