- Primary stems 10-20(-80) cm long, lower part round, flattening towards the tip. Secundary stems flattened, 10-35 cm long, 3-5 cm broad, weakly crenated. Young shoots with weak spines. Flower 8.5-9 cm long, pink, not widely opening. Ovary small, oval, brownish pink, with broad rounded scales and wool. Receptacle bend upwards at the base, with some broad scales. Anthers pink, rarely pale yellow. Pistil protruding, style pink, stigmas white. Fruit 1.8 cm long, purple-red, naked.

- Mexico: Chiapas; Guatemala: Quetzaltenango (T: 1800 m above Mujulia), valley of Rio Naranjo, 1650-2150 m, in cloud forest. Flowereing period March.
