- Up to 6 m long, stems to more than 1 m, 7-15 cm wide, green, with lobes of 2.5-4.5 cm long and 1-1.6 cm wide. Areoles small. Spines 3, short. Flower ±12 cm long, 10-15 cm broad, scented. Oavary green, ±2 cm long and thick, with greyish felt, grey brown bristles 3 mm long. Receptacle purple red, 3 cm long, 1.5 cm diameter, with scales of 3-6 cm long and felt and bristles. Petals 6 cm long, lanceolate, with sharp tips. Outer petals purple-red, the middle ones yellow-white with a purple base, the inner ones yellow-white. Filaments yellowish white. Style yellowish white. Fruit almost globose, green, with ±50 bristles, 1-1.5 cm long. Seed 1.5-2 mm long, shiny brown black.
