- Plant up to 1.5 m long, flat, oblong to elliptisch, 6-16 cm long, 2.5-6 cm broad, weakly undulating, crenate, dark green to reddish. Areoles 0.8-3 cm apart, small, with little felt, scales small, sometimes 1 spine. Flower 8-9 mm long, 1.2-2 cm diameter, yeollowish white, 1-3 on each areole. Stamens white. Pistil white. Ovary more or less four-angled. Fruit 5 mm diameter, somewhat longer than broad, pink to dark red.

- Brazil: São Paulo (T: Sorocaba, south of Santos), Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Santa Catarina. Mata Atlântica, mountainous forests and deciduous forests near rivers, up to 2000 m. Flowering period June to October.
