- Primary ribs 12.5-24 cm long, secondary ribs 7-16 cm long, up to 6 cm wide, slightly wavy incised, midrib thick, green to dark green to reddish. Areoles 0.8-3 cm apart, small, little felt, scales small, sometimes 1 spine. Flower 8-9 mm long, 1-1.4 cm in diameter, yellow or greenish-white, 1-3 per areole. Stamens white. Pistil white. Fruit 5 mm in diameter, slightly longer than wide, pink to dark lilac.
- Brazil: São Paulo (T: Sorocaba, south of Santos), Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Santa Catarina. Mata Atlântica, mountainous forests and deciduous forests near rivers, up to 2000 m. Flowering period June to October.
