Rhipsalis pachyptera purpurea Corderoy - Gardener's Chronicle ser. 3(2):468 (1887)

- Upright, later hanging, up to ±1 m long. Basal stems oblong, mostly three-angled. Secundary stems elliptic to round, slightly indented, dark green, strongly reddish tinted, 8-20 cm long, 5-12 cm wide, with clear midribs. Areoles with small scales and very few felt. Flowers yellow, 1.5 cm long, 2-2.5 cm diameter, fragrant. Stamens translucent white, anthers yellowish white. Pistil white. Ovary round to cylindrical, green. Berry white to red, adpressed to globular.
