- Stems at first upright, later bending or pendant, stems up to 35 cm long, cylindric, dull grey-green, 8-9 mm diameter. Stems branching in two or in whorls of 3-5, 8-15 cm long or more. Areoles with white bristly spines. Scales brown, 1-1.5 mm long, with spiny tip. Flower up to 4 cm diameter, yellowish white. Upper part of stamens white, lower part reddish. Fruit somewhat sunken, purple-red, surrounded with white felt, 1.2 cm diameter.
