- Robust, initially upright, later hanging. Stem cylindric or angled, up to 1 cm diameter. Stems up to 40 cm long. Areoles with small spines. Subsequent stems more or less angled, 15-20 cm long, 1 cm diameter, branching dichotomously or in whorls of 3-5. Areoles initially with 14 or more small spines, 0.4-2 cm apart, spiralling, with wool and later disappearing small spines. Scales relatively large, red, later disappearing. Flower lateral, 1.2-1.3 cm long, 1.5 cm diameter, white, outer petals white with pink, or straw-yellow, flower buds red or yellow. Stamens white, anthers yellow. Stamper white. Fruit surrounded by wool, red, white at the base, sometimes almost colourless, 8-10 mm, adpressed.

- Brazil: São Paulo (Ypanema, along Rio Socoraba, Serra da Cantareira), Paraná, ?Santa Catarina, epiphytic and epilithic, 800-1100 m.
