- Profusely branching shrub, later hanging, up to 60 cm long. Stems 20-30 cm long, 3-4 mm diameter, dark green. Terminal stems short, four- to five-angled, 1-3 cm long, light green. Areoles with little felt and 2-4 short spines. Flower terminal, white, bell-shaped, 1.5 cm long, 2 cm diameter. Ovary globose, green. Fruit white, ±5 mm diameter.
- Brazilië: Pernambuco tot Rio Grande do Sul; Paraguay; Bolivië: tot aan La Paz; Argentinië: Misiones, Corrientes; Uruguay; ?Costa Rica. Coastal and deciduous forest, 250-1700 m. Common. Flowering period September to November.
